Target Population
Initially conceived for individuals with a low level of education, the Art, Culture and Society program is targeted mainly at a clientele comprised of youths and young adults experiencing difficulties integrating their socio-professional environment. The program is addressed to four targeted groups:
- Inmates: from provincial and federal detention centers, transitional centers or external training centers for those out on parole.
- Young people at risk: young dropouts and offenders, secure and open settings for adolescents, rehabilitation centers, street kids, youth centers, etc.
- There is a great need within this clientele; the means of intervention offered in this program are being worked on to provide a more effective and targeted teaching strategy. The ACS program was chosen in autumn 2008 as an alternative program for suspended students at the Centre Paul Gratton of the Pointe de l’Île school board. The ACS program is, above all, proud to receive financial support from the Forum jeunesse de l’île de Montréal and Caisse d’économie solidaire Desjardins for developing this program aimed at this specific group.
- Popular environment: community centers, “maison de la culture”, specialized training centers, adult education centers, church basements, work place (manufacturing sector), etc.
- Native people
Each targeted group, each clientele, each intervention environment has its own specific needs, problems and requirements. But these four groups have one thing in common: a low level of education and a socio-professional integration problem.
Easy access to content, the possibility of adapting teaching strategies and modulating the teaching units are what make this program easily available to all those targeted groups.
