10 artists return from a mission with the anicinape community of Kitcisakik
Montreal, December 15th, 2009 – Exeko, with the collaboration of Maxime Lee Larose, just returned from a mission with the anicinape community of Kitcisakik, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, on December 12th and 13th. A team of nearly 10 artists joined this expedition: Maxime Lee Larose, Marie-Christine Simoneau, Cyril Assathiany, Chantal Simard, Rosalie Hudon, Philippe Thibaudeau, Elize Deguire, Jenny Ritchie and Kena Molina.
This mission started on Saturday with some street animation in the community. Then a 90-minutes show was offered in the youth center. On Sunday, an interactive tale was organized with the youth who enjoyed revisiting traditional stories from their culture.
The artists used stilts, clowning, hand-to-hand, juggling, acrobatics, music and other skills to offer the community some magical moments, enabling them to hopefully escape their difficult conditions for a few moments.
This mission was also an opportunity to discuss with community leaders about the possibility of developing a long-lasting collaboration through the Trickster Effect which is a recently launched socio-cultural program developed by Exeko.
We would like to thank the members of the community for their warm welcome and Marie-Hélène Lamarche for her involvement.
